A. P. Shah Institute of Technology, Thane - APSIT had arranged an insightful Alumni talk on "Journey from Institute to Corporate" On 21 March 2023. Rikesh Simmi Devesh Kamra  ( Senior Software Engineer, Shipt USA) shared some valuable insights and advice on how to navigate this transition successfully. Here are a few key takeaways for APSIT,Thane students which Rikesh has emphasised on during this talk:
Networking is key: Build and maintain strong relationships with your peers and professionals in your field. Attend industry events, join professional organizations, and connect with others on social media.
Be proactive: Don't wait for opportunities to come to you. Take the initiative to seek out internships, job shadowing experiences, and other opportunities that will give students valuable industry experience.
Focus on developing skills: In addition to academic knowledge, it's important to develop skills such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. These skills will be invaluable in students future career.
Be open to learning: Don't be afraid to ask questions, seek feedback, and learn from your mistakes. Students first job may not be their dream job, but it's an opportunity to learn and grow.
Overall, it was a great talk and students felt much more prepared to take on the challenges of transitioning from institute to corporate. It was indeed an informative event!
